M.Tech (Master of Technology) is a postgraduate program that comes under the discipline of technology. This master program comes up with a duration of 2 years consisting of 4 semesters. M.Tech course focuses mainly on the implementation of existing technologies and gives gateway towards technical research. Master of Engineering / Master of Technology is an Academic Degree awarded to postgraduate students in the field of Engineering. Doing M.Tech after B.Tech, B.E or other relevant courses is a good alternative if one wants to add value to their qualification. ME stands for Master of Engineering while MTech stands for Master of Technology. The key difference between these two degrees are as follow:

A diploma is a certificate or deed issued by an educational institution, such as college or university, that testifies that the recipient has successfully completed a particular course of study. The word diploma also refers to an academic award which is given after the completion of study in different courses such as a diploma in higher education, diploma in graduation or diploma in post-graduation, etc.

In India, a diploma is a specific academic award usually earned in professional/vocational courses, e.g., Diploma in Nursing, Engineering, Pharmacy, Design, etc. In such cases, a diploma is specific in rank than a Bachelor’s degree of that discipline but equivalent to a general degree in that discipline; for example, Diploma in Engineering of Electronics Engineering is rated differently than Bachelor of Technology in Electronics Engineering but is equivalent to Bachelor of Science in Electronics.

Distance education or long-distance learning is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school. Traditionally, this usually involved correspondence courses wherein the student corresponded with the school via post. Today it involves online education. Courses that are conducted (51 percent or more) are either hybrid, blended, or 100% distance learning. Massive open online courses (MOOCs), offering large-scale interactive participation and open access through the World Wide Web or other network technologies, are recent developments in distance education. A number of other terms (distributed learning, e-learning, online learning, etc.) are used roughly synonymously with distance education.

B.Tech or Bachelor of technology, which is a professional degree course, was being offered only on-campus until recently. But now times have changed for the better and even professional engineering degrees like B.Tech could be pursued through correspondence by one and all. This is a boon to working professionals especially as they do not have the time to pursue the regular on-campus course. There are several universities and institutions that offer a B.Tech degree course through correspondence.
